About Passive and Active Tracking

GPS-based tracking technology falls roughly into two categories: passive and active tracking. Passive tracking is used to tell where a vehicle has been over a certain period of time. Active tracking is intended to show where a vehicle is now.

Normally, active tracking can be quite expensive, since traditional systems use the satellite network to track and the use of the air time on satellite networks can be expensive. Various solutions to this have been created, such as only calling in the position when the vehicle deviates from a pre-planned route. This requires that the device be pre-programmed with the route, however. Also, traditional satellite-based systems don't work inside buildings. The new SuperTrack™ product from GPS-Egypt works using the GSM network, so it will work within buildings and anywhere that there is sufficient GSM coverage. That covers a very wide area indeed!

SuperTrack™

Our new GSM/GPRS tracking device, SuperTrack™, has an ultra sensitive antenna. It is the world's first indoor GPS device with many applications in safety and security!

To round out the picture, SuperTrack devices can be monitored using our web-based interface that will show the location including maps and aerial photographs. Any account can monitor multiple devices. Just select the device to be located and its current position will be shown on the map.
